CLOSING DOWN FOR WINTER

Another Season has now come to a close - much to the relief of the occasional fish that you didn’t catch. Considering it has been the warmest and driest summer for many years (mind you, some of us can remember ’76), the lake has fished remarkably well and as ever we have had no problems with weed and algae.

All being well, we will be open again next year at the back end of March, so go and put your feet up as I intend to do, have a good Christmas and we will be here to welcome you (well most of you at any rate) again in 2022.

SEASON OPENING ON FRIDAY 19th MARCH

Hardly seems possible but a new season is just around the corner, even the ice has now cleared the Lake and I have had reliable reports that our one remaining fish from last year has survived and has been SEEN.

Being the generous soul I am, and after lengthy discussions with management, it has been decided to give the lonely soul a few playmates. :-)

Now the important bit: we will be re-opening on: FRIDAY 19TH MARCH.

With the inevitable proviso that the powers that be are still allowing fishing, which I understand is permitted at the time of writing!

So I look forward to seeing you in the not too distant future – and I trust that all those of you who are eligible have had the JAB – long live Oxford and Astra Zeneca!!

NOVEMBER

We are now closed for a well-earned rest. Thanks to all our visitors over a very difficult season (even John and Ron).

You must have missed a few fish as we seem to have the odd one or two still showing themselves. But never fear, we are saving hard on the pension pot during lockdown to make sure we can afford to put 2 or 3 more in before next season starts. Talking of which we expect to open at the back end of March, as usual, but will confirm the date after Christmas – so watch this space.

In the meantime, keep yourselves safe and have a good Christmas and New Year, if they haven’t been cancelled before we get there.

2020 SEASON EXTENDED

We are pleased to announce that we have extended this year’s season until the end of October:

SUNDAY THE 1st OF NOVEMBER will be the last day of our 2020 season!
We hope you will enjoy a few extra days this autumn at Tanfield Lodge Lake!

LAKE REOPENING AFTER LOCKDOWN

We are delighted to be able to reopen following government easing of movement restrictions.
THE LAKE WILL BE OPEN FOR BUSINESS – NEARLY AS NORMAL –
ON TUESDAY 19 TH MAY

Please be patient and try not to treat this as an opening day. We do not want to have to set strict limits to numbers, and we can’t/won’t operate a booking system.

Please also note our new (temporary) rules:
THE COVID-19 RULES
1. Only one carload in the hut at the same time
2. Please use hand sanitiser before and after fishing / using hut or toilet facilities
3. Maintain a safe distance from other anglers - they may be more nervous than you
4. Surfaces will be disinfected daily, but minimal use of hut facilities appreciated

UPDATE COVID-19

COVID 19

In the current climate and given the advice we are being given by the Government, we have reluctantly decided to close the Lake for the time being. We fully appreciate that this will curtail our customers from having a chance to enjoy the beauty of the countryside and our wonderful fresh air, but we would rather keep you safe and see you again after the Plague has left us.

2020 OPENING: FRIDAY 20 MARCH

We are opening for a new season on Friday 20 March and we hope to see you all!
Looking forward to your 2020 pictures and anticipating seeing that 8 lb again?

2019 Update Closed Days

BUSY AND CLOSED DATES

As ever there will be one or two days this year when the Lake will be restricted for fishing.

  • WEDNESDAY 24th APRIL. For an annual Club outing of long standing.
Open for evening tickets after 5.00 p.m.

  • SATURDAY 10th AUGUST for a regular charity clay shoot.
As in other years the previous day (FRIDAY 9th) will have limited access as the traps etc. are set up.

2019 OPENING FRIDAY 22nd MARCH

Now that the shooting season is over and winter seems to have arrived at last and the Lake is frozen over, it must be time to start thinking about fishing.

So this year we will be opening proceedings on:

FRIDAY 22nd MARCH

From time to time we get enquiries about our ‘stocking policy’.  This has given rise to a great deal of discussion at senior management level the result of which is that we have decided to have a policy.

Let’s hope that the weather will be kind to us again in Spring so that we can once again have the hatches of insects that we enjoyed last year.

We hope to see you round the Lake during the season.

Happy New Year and tight lines.
