2018 Update Closed Days

BUSY AND CLOSED DATES

As ever there will be one or two days this year when the Lake will be restricted for fishing.

SATURDAY 11TH AUGUST:  closed for our yearly charity clay shoot.  As in previous years the previous day (FRIDAY 10TH) will have limited access as the traps etc. are set up.

2018 Season

11th January

Regular readers of this website (if there are any) might notice that we are a bit ahead of ourselves this year with publication of our OPENING DATE which we have decided will be FRIDAY 23rd MARCH.

Whether this sudden burst of efficiency is due uncharacteristic diligence, or being somewhat inactive currently due to a minor misunderstanding with the horse, I leave to your judgment.

Be that as it may we are planning to put another fish in the Lake this year as, despite all your best endeavors last year, there were three left that I know of.

We are currently negotiating with local stockists to decide who will have the privilege of suppling it this year.

We did have a stroke of luck during the winter and came across a supplier who had a few small brown trout surplus to requirement which we put in and we hope and expect they will grow to look like those in the photos below – given time.

BUSY AND CLOSED DATES

As ever there will be one or two days this year when the Lake will be restricted for fishing.  You will see them on top of this page and we will update if necessary.

Here’s hoping for a good season and decent weather, as we write this the Lake is fully frozen over – so at least the cormorants are kept out for a bit!!

2017 Season

This year I seem to have ‘lost’ my website and have been unable to edit the content.   BUT with a bit of luck we might now be up and running again.  So apologies to all regular (and frustrated) readers.

First question – ‘When do we open this year’ -  after due deliberation we have taken the radical decision to stick with our tried and tested timings so it is:

FRIDAY 24TH MARCH

Second question –‘Have we put any fish in this year’ – well we got lucky and a man I know had a few surplus to requirement so we could do a deal.

Third question – ‘How much is it this year’ – regret to say we have made a massive price increase:

£20 A DAY TICKET - £10 FOR EVENINGS AND JUNIORS.

I blame this on Brexit, well everyone else blames everything on it so it seems fair to join the crowd.  As I know most of you voted Brexit – you know who to blame.

CLOSED AND BUSY DAYS FOR 2017

As ever we have a few days when the Lake will be closed for the day.  The first one is:

THURSDAY 20th APRIL  for a regular club outing.

The second one is:

SATURDAY 4th AUGUST for a charity clay shoot.  On Friday 3rd August, access will also be limited, but open for evening tickets as usual.

2016 SEASON

We seem to have come to that time of year again when I have to start thinking about fish and fishing, usually I wait till the end of winter but as winter doesn't seem to have happened this year (yet) and the Spring flowers are in full bloom it must be time.

So for those of you who are starting to think about the coming season we have decided to open on:-

Friday 25th March.

No change in prices this year again, more trouble than it's worth.

With the open weather we are having I am hoping to get the initial stocking in earlier than usual.  It has been noticeable that fish have been topping all 'winter' long.

So with a bit of luck they will have learnt enough by the end of March to keep out of the way of some of the daft stuff you try to fool them with!

CLOSED AND BUSY DAYS FOR 2016

As ever there are a number of days this year when we are committed to closing the Lake for various reasons.

So far this only amounts to:-

SUNDAY 7th AUGUST

In addition there will be limited access on Saturday 6th August
